I needed some time to process— I still do.
Here is what I know for sure.
Republicans. Democrats. Americans.
We all saw the videos.
The fatal shootings of Renee Nicole Good & Alex Pretti during federal law enforcement actions in Minneapolis were captured on video and witnessed by the American public. The footage undoubtedly made clear that human lives were taken—and that the gravity of these losses demand accountability, not deflection.
In the aftermath of the killings, senior federal leadership, including the President & Vice President of the United States & the Secretary of Homeland Security, chose to publicly defend the actions of ICE Officers rather than confront the reality of lives lost.
That response reflects a disturbing disregard for human dignity and an alarming willingness to normalize lethal state violence.
It is my belief that when leaders respond to loss of life with defense instead of reflection, they reveal that power, not people, is what matters to them most.
Human rights are not conditional. They do not bend to immigration status, agency jurisdiction, or political convenience.
The right to life is absolute.
What happened, again, in Minneapolis deserves truth, transparency, and accountability—not excuses or institutional self-protection.
We ALL must demand an independent, transparent investigation, real accountability for those responsible, and concrete action to ensure this NEVER happens again.
Anything less is a failure of justice and a betrayal of the public trust.
